David S Pollack aka Chase Alias hopes to bring to light with his new series, "Chase Alias' Esoterically Speaking Causes his Reclusively Being, 2010-2012", attempts to convey just how backwards moving our cultural standards seem feels to Chase. As a self portrait photographer he look back in envy at the freedoms which artists used to be able to express themselves without having to worry about cultural and even legal action being taken against them.

Love Until It Hurts

Love Park in Philadelphia. This is the Robert Indiana sculpture in John F. Kennedy Plaza which was first installed in 1976. I took this a few weeks ago while visiting Phillly when I spent one evening on a blue hour shoot around the downtown.

Love Note

A love note to my wife.
I was listening to the song "Home" by Michael Buble. (Our unofficial theme song, since I average about 150 nights a year on the road.) The verse below sparked an idea.
"And I’ve been keeping all the letters that I wrote to you
Each one a line or two
“I’m fine baby, how are you?”
Well I would send them but I know that it’s just not enough
My words were cold and flat
And you deserve more than that"
This image was created in about 5 minutes. I had the idea, jotted down a quick note to my wife and placed it on top of an ironing board next to the window. Light coming through the sheer curtains of the hotel. I had a D60 and 60 micro with me and made the image. BTW... this is a color image.


Love each other

We must resemble each other a little in order to understand each other, but we must be a little different to love each other.

A love note to my wife.

SUSANNA THORNTON is a visual artist who makes photographs, films, videos, drawings and paintings. Her approach is highly engaged in experimentation drawing upon a range of subjects; among her favorite themes: dreams, premonition, mysticism found in nature, celestial phenomena, scripture, ghosts, poltergeist, and witness to life events.

Thornton has been photographing at night since 2002, she works extensively at night and her work explores light. Her minimalist mosaics of ambient color, NIGHTSTILLS first drew acclaim in 2007 in “to:Night,” a cross-collaborative exhibition of the Museum of Modern Art. She is best known for her distinctive use of light, color, and atmosphere in her work. Susanna Thornton most recently exhibited her SKY series (2003-2005) in a solo exhibition in April 2011 at Galerie Arnaud Lefebvre, Paris. Her next major exhibition is forthcoming in Stockholm, Sweden. Thornton’s work has been featured in numerous exhibitions in New York and abroad. She lives in New York City traveling extensively for her projects.
